तमास्थाय रथश्रेष्ठं महामेघसमस्वनम् ।
प्रययौ राक्षसश्रेष्ठो दशग्रीवः सभां प्रति ॥६-११-४॥
tamāsthāya rathaśreṣṭhaṃ mahāmeghasamasvanam । prayayau rākṣasaśreṣṭho daśagrīvaḥ sabhāṃ prati ॥6-11-4॥
Translation
Mounting that excellent chariot which rumbled like a great cloud, the best of Rakshasas, the Ten-necked one, proceeded towards the assembly.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महान मेघ के समान गर्जना करने वाले उस श्रेष्ठ रथ पर बैठकर, राक्षसश्रेष्ठ दशग्रीव (रावण) सभा की ओर चला।
English Commentary
The auditory impact of Ravana's movement. His chariot sounds like thunder ('mahameghasamasvanam'). This metaphor connects Ravana with the storm and destruction. He moves towards the 'Sabha' (Assembly) with the gravity of a storm cloud approaching.

ध्वनि और दृश्य। रथ की आवाज 'महामेघसमस्वनम्' (बादलों की गर्जना जैसी) है। दशग्रीव (दस सिर वाला) रावण जब चलता है, तो धरती कांपती है। यह वर्णन उसके 'राक्षसश्रेष्ठ' होने की पुष्टि करता है।
