ततस्तूर्यसहस्राणां संजज्ञे निःस्वनो महान् ।
तुमुलः शङ्खशब्दश्च सभां गच्छति रावणे ॥६-११-९॥
tatastūryasahasrāṇāṃ saṃjajñe niḥsvano mahān । tumulaḥ śaṅkhaśabdaśca sabhāṃ gacchati rāvaṇe ॥6-11-9॥
Translation
As Ravana proceeded to the assembly, a great sound of thousands of musical instruments and a tumultuous blare of conches arose.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब रावण सभा की ओर जा रहा था, तब हजारों तूर्य (वाद्यों) का महान शब्द और शंखों का तुमुल (घोर) नाद गूंज उठा।
English Commentary
Royal Fanfare. The auditory spectacle matches the visual one. Thousands of instruments ('turyasahasranam') create a wall of sound fit for an emperor. It serves to alert the assembly and intimidate any dissenters.

राजसी स्वागत। हजारों वाद्ययंत्रों और शंखों का शोर रावण के आगमन की घोषणा कर रहा है। 'तुमुल' शब्द ध्वनि की तीव्रता को बताता है। यह शोर भय और श्रद्धा दोनों उत्पन्न करता है।
