यमस्मै प्रथमं प्रादादगस्त्यो भगवानृषिः ।
ब्रह्मदत्तं महाबाणममोघं युधि वीर्यवान् ॥६-१११-४॥
yamasmai prathamaṃ prādādagastyo bhagavānṛṣiḥ |
brahmadattaṃ mahābāṇamamoghaṃ yudhi vīryavān ॥6-111-4॥
Translation
Which the Revered Sage Agastya had given to him earlier; that mighty and unfailing arrow, given by Brahma, the valorous (Shri Rama took up).
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिसे पूर्वकाल में भगवान ऋषि अगस्त्य ने इन्हें (श्री राम को) दिया था; वह ब्रह्माजी द्वारा प्रदत्त, अमोघ (कभी निष्फल न होने वाला) और महान बाण था, (जिसे) वीर्यवान श्री राम ने (ग्रहण किया)।
English Commentary
The lineage of the weapon is traced back to Sage Agastya, who gifted it to Shri Rama. It is a 'Brahmadatta' (gift of Brahma) weapon, signifying supreme authority. The adjective 'amoghaṃ' (unfailing) assures the reader that this is the final strike; unlike previous arrows, this one will not fail.

यहाँ इस अस्त्र का इतिहास बताया गया है। यह वही अस्त्र है जो अगस्त्य मुनि ने वनवास के दौरान या युद्ध के पहले श्रीश्री राम को दिया था। इसका मूल स्रोत स्वयं ब्रह्मा हैं ('ब्रह्मदत्तं')। इसे 'अमोघ' कहा गया है, जिसका अर्थ है कि एक बार चलाए जाने पर यह लक्ष्य भेदे बिना वापस नहीं आता।
