पराक्रमोत्साहविजृम्भितार्चिर्निश्वासधूमः स्वबलप्रतापः ।
प्रतापवान् संयति राक्षसाग्निर्निर्वापितो रामपयोधरेण ॥६-११२-१२॥
parākramotsāhavijṛmbhitārcirniśvāsadhūmaḥ svabalapratāpaḥ |
pratāpavān saṃyati rākṣasāgnirnirvāpito rāmapayodhareṇa ॥6-112-12॥
Translation
With valor and enthusiasm as its expanding flames, sighs as its smoke, and his own army as its scorching heat, this blazing fire of a demon has been extinguished in battle by the rain-cloud that is Shri Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पराक्रम और उत्साह जिसकी फैलती हुई ज्वालाएँ थीं, लम्बी साँसें जिसका धुआँ थीं और अपनी सेना जिसका ताप थी, ऐसा यह प्रतापी राक्षस रूपी अग्नि युद्ध में श्रीश्री राम रूपी बादल (मेघ) द्वारा बुझा दिया गया।
English Commentary
Ravana is likened to a raging fire (Rakshasagni), fueled by valor and casting the smoke of his heavy sighs. His military might radiated heat. Shri Rama is metaphorically the 'Payodhara' (water-bearing cloud). Just as a torrential rainstorm extinguishes a forest fire, Shri Rama's calm but overwhelming power quelled Ravana's fiery aggression. This contrasts the destructive heat of Ravana's ego with the soothing, restorative, yet powerful nature of Shri Rama's divinity.
हिंदी टीका
अग्नि और मेघ का रूपक यहाँ प्रयोग किया गया है। रावण एक विनाशकारी अग्नि के समान था, जिसका ईंधन उसका पराक्रम और उत्साह था। उसकी सेना उस अग्नि की लपटों की तरह थी जो सबको जलाती थी। परन्तु श्री राम 'पयोधर' (जल धारण करने वाले बादल) के समान शीतल और भव्य हैं। जैसे भारी वर्षा दावानल को शांत कर देती है, वैसे ही श्री राम की शक्ति ने रावण के उग्र अस्तित्व को शांत कर दिया।
