इयं हि पूर्वैः सन्दिष्टा गतिः क्षत्रियसम्मता ।
क्षत्रियो निहतः सङ्ख्ये न शोच्य इति निश्चय ॥६-११२-१९॥
iyaṃ hi pūrvaiḥ sandiṣṭā gatiḥ kṣatriyasammatā |
kṣatriyo nihataḥ saṅkhye na śocya iti niścaya ॥6-112-19॥
Translation
This indeed is the path declared by the ancients and approved for Kshatriyas. It is the firm conclusion that a Kshatriya slain in battle is not to be mourned.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पूर्वजों द्वारा क्षत्रियों के लिए यही गति (मार्ग) बताई गई है और सम्मत मानी गई है। निश्चय ही युद्ध में मारा गया क्षत्रिय शोक करने योग्य नहीं होता।
English Commentary
Validating his stance with ancient tradition (purvaih sandishta), Shri Rama asserts that a battlefield death is the culturally sanctioned, noble end for a warrior. This removes the stigma of defeat. By invoking the nischaya (firm conclusion) of the scriptures, Shri Rama provides Vibhishana with a doctrinal anchor to stabilize his emotions, reinforcing that mourning a martyr of war is contrary to the warrior code.

श्री राम वेदों और प्राचीन परंपराओं (पूर्वजों) का हवाला देते हैं। यह विभीषण के मन में रावण के प्रति 'अधर्म' की भावना को भी संतुलित करता है—भले ही रावण अधर्मी था, पर उसका अंत 'क्षत्रिय धर्म' के पालन (युद्ध) में हुआ। इसलिए शास्त्रानुसार वह सद्गति का अधिकारी है। श्री राम यहाँ एक सांस्कृतिक और धार्मिक नियम को स्थापित कर रहे हैं जो व्यक्तिगत भावनाओं से ऊपर है।
