तमुक्तवाक्यं विक्रान्तं राजपुत्रं विभीषणः ।
उवाच शोकसन्तप्तो भ्रातुर्हितमनन्तरम् ॥६-११२-२१॥
tamuktavākyaṃ vikrāntaṃ rājaputraṃ vibhīṣaṇaḥ |
uvāca śokasantapto bhrāturhitamanantaram ॥6-112-21॥
Translation
To that valiant Prince (Shri Rama) who had spoken those words, Vibhishana, though still tormented by grief, spoke further regarding what was beneficial (funeral rites) for his brother.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिनके द्वारा (उपर्युक्त) वचन कहे गए, उन पराक्रमी राजकुमार (श्री राम) से शोकसन्तप्त विभीषण ने भाई के हित (और्ध्वदैहिक संस्कार) के विषय में आगे यह बात कही।
English Commentary
This verse bridges Shri Rama's advice and Vibhishana's response. While Vibhishana is still 'shokasantapta' (scorched by grief), he initiates the conversation about the 'hitam' (welfare/rites) for his brother. It shows his obedience to Shri Rama and his innate goodness. He seeks to resolve the conflict between his brother's sinful life and the necessity of religious rites, turning to Shri Rama for the final verdict.

श्री राम के वचनों का प्रभाव विभीषण पर पड़ता है, किन्तु उनका मन अभी भी पूरी तरह शांत नहीं है ('शोकसन्तप्त')। तथापि, वे श्री राम की आज्ञा मानकर भाई के अंतिम संस्कार के विषय में बात करना शुरू करते हैं। यहाँ विभीषण का चरित्र एक आज्ञाकारी भक्त और एक दुखी भाई के बीच झूलता दिखाई देता है। वे श्री राम से अनुमति और मार्गदर्शन चाहते हैं कि रावण जैसे पापी (किंतु भाई) का संस्कार कैसे किया जाए।
