मरणान्तानि वैराणि निर्वृत्तं नः प्रयोजनम् ।
क्रियतामस्य संस्कारो ममाप्येष यथा तव ॥६-११२-२६॥
maraṇāntāni vairāṇi nirvṛttaṃ naḥ prayojanam |
kriyatāmasya saṃskāro mamāpyeṣa yathā tava ॥6-112-26॥
Translation
Hostilities end with death; our purpose has been accomplished. Let his funeral rites be performed; he is as much mine as he is yours.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वैर का अंत मृत्यु के साथ ही हो जाता है, हमारा प्रयोजन सिद्ध हो चुका है। इसका संस्कार करो; जैसा यह तुम्हारा (भाई) है, वैसा ही मेरा भी है।
English Commentary
This is one of the most celebrated verses in the Ramayana, encapsulating the highest ideal of Dharma. Maranantani vairani—enmity ceases at death. Shri Rama declares that with Ravana's death, the reason for conflict is over. His statement, 'He is as much mine as yours,' is profoundly moving. It erases the boundary between friend and foe in the face of death. Shri Rama adopts the fallen enemy as his own kin, teaching the world that dignity and compassion must extend even to one's greatest adversaries once they have passed.

यह श्री रामायण का एक अत्यंत प्रसिद्ध और उदात्त श्लोक है। श्री राम भारतीय संस्कृति के उस उच्च आदर्श को स्थापित करते हैं कि मृत्यु के बाद कोई शत्रु नहीं रहता। 'ममाप्येष यथा तव' (यह जैसा तुम्हारा है, वैसा मेरा भी है)—इस पंक्ति में श्री राम की असीम करुणा झलकती है। वे विभीषण को कहते हैं कि रावण अब केवल तुम्हारा भाई नहीं, मेरा भी भाई है। यह मानवता और क्षमा की पराकाष्ठा है। श्री राम ने रावण का संस्कार अपने भाई समान मानकर करने का आदेश देकर विश्व को शत्रुता की मर्यादा सिखाई।
