रावणं निहतं श्रुत्वा राघवेण महात्मना ।
अन्तःपुराद्विनिष्पेतू राक्षस्यः शोककर्शिताः ॥६-११३-१॥
rāvaṇaṃ nihataṃ śrutvā rāghaveṇa mahātmanā |
antaḥpurād viniṣpetū rākṣasyaḥ śokakarśitāḥ ॥6-113-1॥
Translation
Upon hearing that Ravana had been slain by the high-souled Shri Rama, the Rakshasa women, emaciated by grief, rushed out of the inner apartments (harem).
हिंदी अनुवाद
महात्मा श्री रघुनाथ जी के द्वारा रावण के मारे जाने का समाचार सुनकर, शोक से व्याकुल राक्षसियां अन्तःपुर (जनानखाने) से बाहर निकल आईं।
English Commentary
This sarga describes the pervasive grief in Lanka following Ravana's death. The Rakshasa women of the harem, who had lived in supreme luxury and security, abandoned all royal protocols and rushed out upon hearing the news of their lord's demise. It depicts the human dimension of the total collapse of the empire of unrighteousness. The word 'Shokakarshitah' signifies their physical and mental wasting away, as Ravana was the sole center of their power and existence.

यह सर्ग रावण के वध के उपरान्त लंका में व्याप्त शोक का वर्णन करता है। रावण की पत्नियां और अन्तःपुर की स्त्रियां, जो अब तक सुरक्षित और ऐश्वर्य में थीं, अपने स्वामी के अंत की खबर सुनकर मर्यादाओं को भूलकर बाहर निकल आती हैं। यह अधर्म के साम्राज्य के पूर्ण पतन का मानवीय पक्ष है। 'शोककर्शिताः' शब्द उनकी मानसिक और शारीरिक शिथिलता को दर्शाता है, क्योंकि उनके लिए रावण ही उनकी शक्ति का एकमात्र केंद्र था।
