तदिदं वीर सम्प्राप्तं मया पूर्वं समीरितम् ।
काममोहपरीतस्य यत्ते न रुचितं वचः ॥६-११२-४॥
tadidaṃ vīra samprāptaṃ mayā pūrvaṃ samīritam |
kāmamohaparītasya yatte na rucitaṃ vacaḥ ॥6-112-4॥
Translation
O Hero! That which I predicted earlier has now come to pass. Being possessed by lust and delusion, my words were not pleasing to you then.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वीर! जो बात मैंने पहले ही कही थी, वह आज सच हो गई। काम और मोह से ग्रस्त होने के कारण तुम्हें मेरा वह वचन रुचिकर नहीं लगा था।
English Commentary
Vibhishana recalls his past counsel, not to gloat, but to highlight the inevitability of the outcome. He identifies the root causes of Ravana's downfall: 'kama' (lust) and 'moha' (delusion). These vices clouded Ravana's judgment, making wise counsel taste bitter to him. This verse teaches a timeless lesson in statecraft and personal conduct: when a leader becomes enslaved by their passions and rejects the truthful advice of well-wishers, destruction is the mathematically certain result.

विभीषण यहाँ उस सत्य को दोहराते हैं जो उन्होंने युद्ध से पूर्व रावण को समझाने का प्रयास किया था। यह 'विनाशकाले विपरीत बुद्धि' का स्मरण कराता है। विभीषण ने सीता जी को लौटाने की सलाह दी थी, किन्तु 'काम' (इच्छा) और 'मोह' (अज्ञान) ने रावण की विवेक-बुद्धि को ढक लिया था। यहाँ विभीषण का उद्देश्य आलोचना करना नहीं, अपितु नियति और कर्म के विधान को स्वीकार करना है। हितैषी का कड़वा सत्य यदि समय पर न माना जाए, तो परिणाम विनाशकारी होता है, यह इस श्लोक का मर्म है।
