चित्रभानुः प्रशान्तार्चिर्व्यवसायो निरुद्यमः ।
अस्मिन्निपतिते भूमौ वीरे शस्त्रभृतां वरे ॥६-११२-८॥
citrabhānuḥ praśāntārcirvyavasāyo nirudyamaḥ |
asminnipatite bhūmau vīre śastrabhṛtāṃ vare ॥6-112-8॥
Translation
With this hero, the best among wielders of weapons, having fallen on the ground, it is as if a blazing fire has been extinguished and endurance itself has ceased to strive.
हिंदी अनुवाद
शस्त्रधारियों में श्रेष्ठ इस वीर के पृथ्वी पर गिर जाने से, मानो अग्नि की ज्वाला शांत हो गई है और उद्यम (प्रयत्न) चेष्टारहित हो गया है।
English Commentary
Ravana is compared to a fire with colorful flames ('chitrabhanu'), representing his dynamic and terrifying energy. His death is likened to the extinguishing of this fire. The phrase 'vyavasayo nirudyamah' suggests that 'determination' itself has become inactive. Ravana embodied relentless striving; his fall signifies the cessation of that indomitable spirit. Vibhishana acknowledges him as the best among warriors ('shastrabhritam vare'), honoring his martial prowess despite his moral failings.

रावण की तुलना प्रज्वलित अग्नि (चित्रभानु) से की गई है। उसका व्यक्तित्व तेजस्वी और उग्र था। उसकी मृत्यु से वह ऊर्जा शांत हो गई है। 'व्यवसाय' (निश्चय/उद्यम) का निरुद्यम होना यह बताता है कि रावण की इच्छाशक्ति इतनी प्रबल थी कि वह असम्भव को भी सम्भव करने का प्रयास करता था। अब जब वह नहीं रहा, तो लंका की प्रेरणा और संघर्ष की शक्ति भी उसके साथ चली गई है। यह क्षत्रिय धर्म और वीर रस से ओत-प्रोत श्रद्धांजलि है।
