किं शेषमिव लोकस्य हतवीरस्य साम्प्रतम् ।
रणे राक्षसशार्दूले प्रसुप्त इव पांसुषु ॥६-११२-९॥

raṇe rākṣasaśārdūle prasupta iva pāṃsuṣu ॥6-112-9॥
Translation
Now that this tiger among demons lies sleeping in the dust of the battlefield, what indeed remains of this world bereft of its hero?

राक्षसों में सिंह के समान इस वीर के रणभूमि में धूल में सो जाने पर, अब इस वीरविहीन संसार में शेष ही क्या रह गया है?
English Commentary
In his grief, Vibhishana feels a void encompassing the entire world. Referring to Ravana as a 'tiger among demons' ('rakshasa-shardula'), he expresses that the vibrancy of the world was tied to Ravana's existence. The sight of such a majestic figure lying in common dust ('pamsushu') provokes an existential crisis for Vibhishana, questioning the value of what remains when the greatest hero he knew is gone.

विभीषण के लिए रावण का होना ही संसार की पूर्णता थी। 'राक्षसशार्दूल' (राक्षसों में बाघ) विशेषण रावण की आक्रामकता और राजसी ठाठ को व्यक्त करता है। भाई के प्रेम में डूबे विभीषण को लगता है कि रावण के बिना दुनिया सुनी हो गई है। यह एक स्वाभाविक अतिशयोक्ति है जो गहरे शोक के समय उत्पन्न होती है, जहाँ प्रियजन का अभाव समस्त सृष्टि के अभाव जैसा प्रतीत होता है।
