यो न शक्यः सुरैर्हन्तुं न यक्षैर्नासुरैस्तथा ।
सो ऽयं कश्चिदिवासत्त्वो मृत्युं मर्त्येन लम्भितः ॥६-११३-१६॥
yo na śakyaḥ surairhantuṃ na yakṣairnāsurais tathā |
so 'yaṃ kaścidi vāsattvo mṛtyuṃ martyena lambhitaḥ ॥6-113-16॥
Translation
He who could not be killed by Gods, Yakshas, or Asuras, has been brought to his death by a mortal, as if he were some weak, powerless creature.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिसे न देवता, न यक्ष और न ही असुर मार सकते थे, उस (रावण) को आज एक मनुष्य (मर्त्य) ने वैसे ही मार दिया जैसे वह कोई शक्तिहीन प्राणी (असत्त्व) हो।
English Commentary
This verse indirectly extols Shri Rama's power. Ravana, before whom the three worlds trembled, proved to be 'Asattva' (powerless) before Shri Rama. The use of 'Martya' (mortal) reaffirms the play of Shri Rama's human incarnation. The Rakshasa women struggle with the paradox of how a mortal human ended the one who boasted of immortality.

श्री राम की शक्ति का यहाँ परोक्ष रूप से गुणगान है। रावण जैसा महाबली, जिसके सामने त्रिलोकी थर्राती थी, श्री राम के सामने 'असत्त्व' (बलहीन) सिद्ध हुआ। 'मर्त्य' (मरणधर्मा मनुष्य) शब्द का प्रयोग श्री राम के मानवी अवतार की लीला को पुष्ट करता है। राक्षसियाँ इस विरोधाभास को समझ नहीं पा रही हैं कि एक नश्वर मानव ने अमरता का दम्भ भरने वाले रावण का अंत कैसे कर दिया।
