वयं चाविधवाः सर्वाः सकामा न च शत्रवः ।
त्वया पुनर्नृशंसेन सीतां संरुन्धता बलात् ॥६-११३-२२॥
vayaṃ cāvidhavāḥ sarvāḥ sakāmā na ca śatravaḥ |
tvayā punarnṛśaṃsena sītāṃ saṃrundhatā balāt ॥6-113-22॥
Translation
We all would have remained non-widows, our desires would have been fulfilled, and we would have had no enemies. But you, acting cruelly, forcibly kept Sita in confinement—
हिंदी अनुवाद
हम सब भी सुहागिन बनी रहतीं, हमारी इच्छाएं पूरी होतीं और हमारा कोई शत्रु न होता। किन्तु तुमने क्रूर होकर बलपूर्वक सीता को कैद में रखा—
English Commentary
The queens' accusation targets Ravana's 'Nrishamsata' (cruelty). They hold Ravana's crime against Sita directly responsible for their widowhood. Sita's confinement became the death-knell for Lanka. Here, a personal sin resulted in the suffering of the entire female populace.
हिंदी टीका
रानियों का यह आरोप रावण की 'नृशंसता' (क्रूरता) पर है। वे अपने 'वैधव्य' (विधवा होने) के लिए सीधे रावण के सीता के प्रति किए गए अपराध को उत्तरदायी मानती हैं। सीता जी की कैद ही लंका के लिए काल बन गई। यहाँ व्यक्तिगत पाप का प्रभाव सम्पूर्ण समाज की स्त्रियों के सुहाग पर पड़ा है।
