Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तव चैव महाबाहो दैवयोगादुपागतः ।
नैवार्थेन न कामेन विक्रमेण न चाज्ञया ॥६-११३-२५॥
tava caiva mahābāho daivayogād upāgataḥ |
naivārthena na kāmena vikrameṇa na cājñayā ॥6-113-25॥
Translation
O mighty-armed Ravana! All this has come upon you solely by the conjunction of Fate. It could not be averted by wealth, by desire, by prowess, or by your commands.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महाबाहु रावण! यह सब तुम्हारे पास दैव के संयोग से ही आया है। न धन से, न इच्छा से, न पराक्रम से और न ही तुम्हारी आज्ञा से (इसे टाला जा सकता था)।
English Commentary
The queens acknowledge that Ravana possessed every material resource—wealth, desire, prowess, and authority. Yet, none could safeguard him from death. This portrays the limitations of physical power. When the 'conjunction of Fate' ('Daivayoga') is adverse, even the greatest emperor in the world becomes as helpless as a blade of grass.
हिंदी टीका
रानियाँ स्वीकार करती हैं कि रावण के पास सब कुछ था—'अर्थ' (धन), 'काम' (इच्छा), 'विक्रम' (पराक्रम) और 'आज्ञा' (सत्ता)। किन्तु इनमें से कोई भी उसे मृत्यु से नहीं बचा सका। यह भौतिक शक्ति की सीमाओं का चित्रण है। जब 'दैव-योग' (भाग्य का मेल) प्रतिकूल होता है, तो संसार का सबसे बड़ा सम्राट भी तिनके के समान असहाय हो जाता है।
