ताः पतिं सहसा दृष्ट्वा शयानं रणपांसुषु ।
निपेतुस्तस्य गात्रेषु च्छिन्ना वनलता इव ॥६-११३-७॥
tāḥ patiṃ sahasā dṛṣṭvā śayānaṃ raṇapāṃsuṣu |
nipetustasya gātreṣu cchinnā vanalatā iva ॥6-113-7॥
Translation
Suddenly seeing their husband lying in the dust of the battlefield, they fell upon his limbs like uprooted forest creepers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रणभूमि की धूल में सोए हुए अपने पति को अचानक देखकर, वे स्त्रियाँ उनके अंगों पर वैसे ही गिर पड़ीं जैसे जड़ से कटी हुई वन की लताएं गिर जाती हैं।
English Commentary
The analogy of 'forest creepers' (Vanalata) signifies the fragility of the women and their total dependence on their husband. Just as a creeper falls when its supporting tree is cut, their world collapsed with Ravana's end. Falling into the dust ('Pamsu') symbolizes the complete dissolution of their royal dignity. The scene is profoundly tragic.

वन की लताओं (वनलता) की उपमा स्त्रियों की कोमलता और उनके पति पर आश्रित होने को दर्शाती है। जैसे वृक्ष के कटने पर लता स्वयं गिर जाती है, वैसे ही रावण के अंत के साथ उनकी दुनिया उजड़ गई। धूल (पांसु) में गिरना उनके राजकीय गौरव के पूर्ण विसर्जन का प्रतीक है। यह दृश्य अत्यंत करुण और हृदयस्पर्शी है।
