परित्तरणिकां राज्ञो घृताक्तां समवेशयन् ।
गन्धैर्माल्यैरलङ्कृत्य रावणं दीनमानसाः ॥६-११४-११०॥
parittaraṇikāṃ rājño ghṛtāktāṃ samaveśayan |
gandhairmālyairalaṅkṛtya rāvaṇaṃ dīnamānasāḥ ॥6-114-110॥
Translation
They covered the king with a ghee-soaked skin/cloth (Parittarani). With sorrowful minds, they adorned Ravana with fragrances and garlands.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन्होंने राजा के (शरीर पर) घी से सनी हुई 'परित्तरणी' (एक प्रकार की चादर/चर्म) डाली। उदास मन वाले राक्षसों ने रावण को गंध और मालाओं से अलंकृत किया।
English Commentary
The body is prepared for cremation. 'Parittarani' refers to a specific covering used in the rites, soaked in ghee to facilitate burning. Adorning the corpse with garlands ('mālyaiḥ') is a final act of respect and love by his grieving subjects.

अंतिम विदाई का क्षण। घी से सनी चादर और मालाओं से रावण का श्रृंगार किया गया। 'दीनमानसाः' (उदास मन वाले) शब्द अनुयायियों के वास्तविक शोक को दर्शाता है।
