English Commentary
The cremation proper. Vibhishana lights the pyre ('dadau pāvakaṃ'). The post-cremation ritual involves bathing immediately and performing water offerings ('tarpana') while wearing wet clothes ('ārdravastreṇa'), using sesame seeds ('tila') and grass, signifying purification and offering to the departed soul.
