घोरं पर्याप्तकाले वै कर्ता नास्त्यत्र संशयः ।
शुभकृच्छुभमाप्नोति पापकृत्पापमश्नुते ॥६-११४-२६॥
ghoraṃ paryāptakāle vai kartā nāstyatra saṃśayaḥ |
śubhakṛcchubhamāpnoti pāpakṛtpāpamaśnute ॥6-114-26॥
Translation
When the time is ripe, the doer undoubtedly faces the terrible (consequence). The doer of good attains good, and the doer of sin reaps sin (suffering).
हिंदी अनुवाद
समय पूरा होने पर कर्ता को घोर (फल) मिलता है, इसमें संशय नहीं है। शुभ कर्म करने वाला शुभ पाता है और पाप कर्म करने वाला पाप (दुख) भोगता है।
English Commentary
Mandodari articulates a universal maxim: 'Do good, get good; do evil, get evil.' She emphasizes the role of Time (paryaptakale). The delay in consequences often deludes sinners into thinking they are safe, but when the time matures, the reaction is terrible (ghoram) and undeniable. This is Mandodari's acceptance of the justice inherent in the universe, despite her personal loss.

यह श्री रामायण का एक सुभाषित (नीति वाक्य) है। 'शुभकृच्छुभमाप्नोति...'—जैसी करनी, वैसी भरनी। मन्दोदरी रावण को समझा रही हैं (भले ही वह मर चुका है) कि यह परिणाम अन्यायपूर्ण नहीं है। यह प्रकृति का न्याय है। समय ('पर्याप्तकाले') की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण है; पाप का फल तुरंत न मिले, पर समय आने पर ब्याज सहित मिलता है।
