तव तावदयं मृत्युर्मैथिलीकृतलक्षणः ।
सीतानिमित्तजो मृत्युस्त्वया दूरादुपाहृतः ॥६-११४-३०॥
tava tāvadayaṃ mṛtyurmaithilīkṛtalakṣaṇaḥ |
sītānimittajo mṛtyustvayā dūrādupāhṛtaḥ ॥6-114-30॥
Translation
This death of yours has Maithili as its guise. This death, born for the sake of Sita, was brought by you from afar.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आपकी यह मृत्यु मैथिली (सीता) रूपी लक्षण वाली है। सीता के निमित्त से उत्पन्न हुई इस मृत्यु को आपने दूर से (बुलाकर) अपने पास लाया है।
English Commentary
Mandodari emphasizes personal responsibility. Death didn't just happen to Ravana; he actively fetched it from afar (durad upahritah) by abducting Sita. Sita became the conduit for his demise. This reinforces the idea that Ravana was the architect of his own destruction, turning a distant threat into an immediate reality through his unrighteous actions.

रावण ने अपनी मृत्यु को स्वयं आमंत्रित किया। वह सुरक्षित लंका में था, लेकिन उसने पंचवटी जाकर सीता का हरण किया, मानो उसने दूर बैठी मृत्यु को जबरदस्ती खींचकर अपने गले लगा लिया हो। 'दूरादुपाहृतः' (दूर से लाया गया) वाक्यांश रावण के कृत्य की मूर्खता को दर्शाता है। हम अक्सर अपने विनाश का निर्माण स्वयं करते हैं।
