विभीषणमुवाचेदं वाक्यज्ञो वाक्यकोविदः ।
तवापि मे प्रियं कार्यं त्वत्प्रभावाच्च मे जितम् ॥६-११४-९८॥
vibhīṣaṇamuvācedaṃ vākyajño vākyakovidam |
tavāpi me priyaṃ kāryaṃ tvatprabhāvācca me jitam ॥6-114-98॥
Translation
The knower of speech (Shri Rama) spoke this to the eloquent Vibhishana: "I must indeed do what is pleasing to you, and it is by your power/help that I have won."
हिंदी अनुवाद
वाणी के मर्मज्ञ (श्री राम) ने वाणी में कुशल विभीषण से यह कहा—'मुझे तुम्हारा प्रिय करना ही है, और तुम्हारे प्रभाव (सहायता) से ही मैंने विजय प्राप्त की है।'
English Commentary
Shri Rama begins with validation. He acknowledges Vibhishana's crucial role in the victory ('tvatprabhāvācca me jitam'). Being a master of speech ('vākyajño'), Shri Rama knows that to persuade Vibhishana, he must first assure him of his affection and gratitude.

श्रीश्री राम पहले विभीषण को श्रेय देते हैं। वे कहते हैं 'त्वत्प्रभावाच्च मे जितम्' (तुम्हारी मदद से ही मैंने जीता)। यह एक कुशल नेता का गुण है। वे विभीषण को सम्मान देकर फिर अपनी बात (संस्कार करने का आदेश) मनवाएंगे।
