Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पापानां वा शुभानां वा वधार्हाणां प्लवङ्गम ।
कार्यं करुणामार्येण न कश्चिन्नापराध्यति ॥६-११६-४४॥
pāpānāṃ vā śubhānāṃ vā vadhārhāṇāṃ plavaṅgama |
kāryaṃ karuṇāmāryeṇa na kaścinnāparādhyati ॥6-116-44॥
Translation
"O Monkey! Whether they are sinners, virtuous, or even deserving of death, a noble person should show compassion; for there is no one who does not commit a fault."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे वानर! पापी हों, या पुण्यवान, या वध के योग्य ही क्यों न हों, आर्य (श्रेष्ठ) पुरुष को उन पर करुणा ही करनी चाहिए; क्योंकि ऐसा कोई नहीं है जिससे अपराध न होता हो।"
English Commentary
'Na kashchin naparadhyati' (There is no one who does not err)—this is a universal acknowledgement of human nature. Sita's heart is so vast that she advocates compassion even for enemies deserving death. This is the foundation of Shri Rama Rajya—Forgiveness above Punishment.
हिंदी टीका
'न कश्चिन् नापराध्यति' (ऐसा कोई नहीं जिससे गलती न हो)—यह मानवीय स्वभाव की सार्वभौमिक स्वीकारोक्ति है। सीता जी का हृदय इतना विशाल है कि वे वध के योग्य शत्रुओं के लिए भी करुणा (Compassion) की वकालत करती हैं। यही रामराज्य की नींव है—दंड से ऊपर क्षमा।
