स उवाच महाप्राज्ञमभिगम्य प्लवङ्गमः ।
रामं वचनमर्थज्ञो वरं सर्वधनुष्मताम् ॥६-११७-१॥
sa uvāca mahāprājñamabhigamya plavaṅgamaḥ |
rāmaṃ vacanamarthajño varaṃ sarvadhanuṣmatām ॥6-117-1॥
Translation
Then the monkey (Hanuman), who knew the significance of facts, approached the highly wise Shri Rama, the best among all wielders of the bow, and spoke these words.

उस समय अर्थ (रहस्य/तथ्य) को जानने वाले वानर (हनुमान) ने, समस्त धनुर्धारियों में श्रेष्ठ महाप्राज्ञ श्रीश्री राम के पास जाकर यह वचन कहा।

हनुमानजी अभी-अभी अशोक वाटिका से लौटे हैं और माता सीता की स्थिति देखकर आए हैं। उन्हें 'अर्थज्ञ' कहा गया है, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे देश, काल और परिस्थिति के अनुसार बात करना जानते हैं। वे श्रीश्री राम के पास विजय का समाचार लेकर नहीं, बल्कि सीताजी के संदेश और उनकी अवस्था का वर्णन करने आए हैं। श्रीश्री राम को 'महाप्राज्ञ' और 'वरं सर्वधनुष्मताम्' कहकर वाल्मीकि जी यह संकेत दे रहे हैं कि श्रीश्री राम ज्ञानी और शक्तिशाली दोनों हैं, अतः वे स्थिति को संभाल लेंगे।
