तामागतामुपश्रुत्य रक्षोगृहचिरोषिताम् ।
हर्षो दैन्यं च रोषश्च त्रयं राघवमाविशत् ॥६-११७-१६॥
tāmāgatāmupaśrutya rakṣogṛhaciroṣitām |
harṣo dainyaṃ ca roṣaśca trayaṃ rāghavamāviśat ॥6-117-16॥
Translation
Hearing that she, who had lived for a long time in the Rakshasa's house, had arrived, three emotions—joy, misery/grief, and anger—possessed Raghava simultaneously.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षस के घर में बहुत दिनों तक रही हुई सीता को आया हुआ सुनकर, राघव (श्री राम) के मन में हर्ष, दैन्य (दुःख) और रोष (क्रोध)—ये तीनों भाव एक साथ उत्पन्न हुए।
English Commentary
This verse is psychologically profound. Shri Rama experiences a triad of emotions: Joy ('Harsha') at her return; Grief/Misery ('Dainya') due to the suffering she endured and the predicament of accepting her; and Anger ('Rosha'), possibly directed at the circumstances or the stain on his lineage. The phrase 'lived long in the Rakshasa's house' explains the conflict between his love and his duty/social morality.

यह श्लोक श्रीश्री राम की जटिल मनोदशा की कुंजी है। 'हर्ष' इसलिए कि पत्नी वापस आई है। 'दैन्य' (दुःख) इसलिए कि उसने इतना कष्ट सहा और लोक-निंदा का भय है। 'रोष' (क्रोध) रावण पर, या नियति पर, या उस स्थिति पर जिसने उन्हें इस धर्मसंकट में डाला। 'रक्षोगृहचिरोषिताम्' (राक्षस के घर लंबे समय तक रही) वाक्यांश ही उनके द्वंद्व का कारण है।
