विदितश्चास्तु ते भद्रे योऽयं रणपरिश्रमः ।
स तीर्णः सुहृदां वीर्यान्न त्वदर्थं मया कृतः ॥६-११८-१५॥
viditaścāstu te bhadre yo'yaṃ raṇapariśramaḥ |
sa tīrṇaḥ suhṛdāṃ vīryānna tvadarthaṃ mayā kṛtaḥ ॥6-118-15॥
Translation
Let it be known to you, O Gentle Lady, that this exertion of war which has been successfully crossed by the valor of my friends—was not undertaken by me for your sake.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे भद्रे! तुम्हें यह विदित (ज्ञात) हो कि यह जो युद्ध का परिश्रम किया गया, वह मैंने मित्रों के बल से पार किया है; किन्तु यह सब तुम्हारे लिए नहीं किया गया।
English Commentary
This is the turning point and the most devastating verse. Shri Rama explicitly disowns any romantic motive, stating, 'This was not done for your sake' (na tvadartham). He attributes the victory to his friends' valor and negates Sita as the primary cause. This crushing declaration is intended to shatter any illusion that mere reunion is the goal. It forces the issue of purity into the open, stripping Sita of her status as the 'beloved' and placing her as a 'subject' under scrutiny.

यह पूरे सर्ग का सबसे कठोर और वज्रपात करने वाला श्लोक है। श्री राम स्पष्ट कहते हैं: 'न त्वदर्थं मया कृतः' (मैंने यह तुम्हारे लिए नहीं किया)। किसी भी पत्नी के लिए इससे अधिक दुखदायी वचन नहीं हो सकते। श्री राम यह दावा करते हैं कि यह युद्ध केवल मित्रों के सहयोग से 'धर्म' और 'यश' की रक्षा के लिए लड़ा गया। यह कथन सीता के अस्तित्व को नकारने जैसा प्रतीत होता है, किन्तु इसके पीछे का मर्म उन्हें 'मोह' से मुक्त करके 'सत्य' की कसौटी (अग्नि परीक्षा) पर कसना है।
