स विज्ञाय ततश्छन्दं रामस्याकारसूचितम् ।
चितां चकार सौमित्रिर्मते रामस्य वीर्यवान् ॥६-११९-२१॥
sa vijñāya tataśchandaṃ rāmasyākārasūcitam |
citāṃ cakāra saumitrir mate rāmasya vīryavān ॥6-119-21॥
Translation
Then the valiant Lakshmana, understanding Shri Rama's intent indicated by His facial expression, prepared the funeral pyre in accordance with Shri Rama's wish.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन वीर्यवान सुमित्रानन्दन ने श्री राम के चेहरे के भावों से उनकी इच्छा को जानकर, उनकी सम्मति के अनुसार चिता तैयार की।
English Commentary
Shri Rama did not speak, but His 'Akara' (physical expression) conveyed His consent. Lakshmana performed the task 'Ramasya Mate' (by Shri Rama's will) with a heavy heart. Shri Rama's silence is the most vocal part of this scene—He allows His beloved wife to enter the fire due to the burden of public scrutiny. This depicts the severity of Dharma and the weight of a King's responsibility.

श्री राम ने मुख से कुछ नहीं कहा, किन्तु उनके 'आकार' (हाव-भाव) ने अनुमति दे दी थी। लक्ष्मण जी ने भारी मन से 'रामस्य मते' (श्री राम की इच्छानुसार) कार्य किया। यहाँ श्री राम का मौन सबसे अधिक मुखर है—वे लोक-निंदा के भय से अपनी प्रिय पत्नी को अग्नि में जाने दे रहे थे। यह दृश्य धर्म की कठोरता और राजा के उत्तरदायित्व के बोझ को दर्शाता है।
