विवेश ज्वलनं दीप्तं निःशङ्केनान्तरात्मना ।
जनः स सुमहांत्रस्तो बालवृद्धसमाकुलः ॥६-११९-२९॥
vivēśa jvalanaṃ dīptaṃ niḥśaṅkēnāntarātmanā |
janaḥ sa sumahāntrastō bālavṛddhasamākulaḥ ॥6-119-29॥
Translation
She entered the blazing fire with a heart free of doubt. That vast multitude, crowded with the young and the old, was struck with terror.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बिना किसी शंका (भय) के अपने अंतर्मन के साथ उन्होंने प्रज्वलित अग्नि में प्रवेश किया। वह विशाल जनसमूह, जिसमें बालक और वृद्ध भी थे, अत्यंत भयभीत (त्रस्त) हो गया।
English Commentary
Sita's 'unhesitating' entry into the fire is the ultimate proof of her innocence. One who is true does not fear the flames. The phrase 'crowded with the young and old' shows that every segment of society witnessed this scene and trembled at the courage and plight of that great woman. It was a historic and spine-chilling moment.

सीता जी का 'निःशङ्क' (बिना शंका के) अग्नि में जाना उनकी पूर्ण निर्दोषता का सबसे बड़ा प्रमाण है। जो सच्चा होता है, वह आग से नहीं डरता। 'बालवृद्धसमाकुलः' शब्द यह बताते हैं कि समाज का हर वर्ग इस दृश्य को देख रहा था और उस महान नारी के इस साहस और विवशता पर कांप उठा था। यह एक ऐतिहासिक और रोमांचकारी क्षण था।
