प्रविशन्तीव गात्राणि स्वान्येव जनकात्मजा ।
वाक्शल्यैस्तैः सशक्येव भृशमश्रूण्यवर्तयत ॥६-११९-३॥
praviśantīva gātrāṇi svānyeva janakātmajā |
vākśalyāistaiḥ saśakyeva bhṛśamaśrūṇyavartayat ॥6-119-3॥
Translation
The daughter of Janaka appeared to shrink into her own limbs out of shame. Wounded by those words which were like piercing arrows, she wept profusely.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जनकपुत्री सीता मानो लज्जावश अपने ही अंगों में सिमट सी गईं। उन बाणों के समान चुभने वाले वचनों से घायल होकर वे फूट-फूटकर रोने लगीं।
English Commentary
The use of 'Vakshalyaih' (speech-arrows) is very impactful. Physical wounds heal, but the wounds of words pierce the soul. Sita’s physical reaction—shrinking into her own limbs—expresses her deep sense of shame and humiliation. Her profuse tears were a testimony to her purity and her shattered heart.

यहाँ 'वाक्शल्यैः' (वाणी रूपी बाण) का प्रयोग अत्यंत प्रभावशाली है। शारीरिक घाव भर जाते हैं, किन्तु शब्दों के घाव आत्मा को विदीर्ण कर देते हैं। सीता जी की शारीरिक प्रतिक्रिया 'प्रविशन्तीव गात्राणि' उनके गहरे संकोच और अपमान के भाव को व्यक्त करती है। उनकी अश्रुधारा उनकी पवित्रता और उनके टूटे हुए हृदय की गवाही दे रही थी।
