ततो बाष्पपरिक्लिष्टं प्रमार्जन्ती स्वमाननम् ।
शनैर्गद्गदया वाचा भर्तारमिदमब्रवीत् ॥६-११९-४॥
tato bāṣpaparikliṣṭaṃ pramārjantī svamānanam |
śanairgadgadayā vācā bhartāramidamabravīt ॥6-119-4॥
Translation
Then, wiping her tear-stained face, she spoke the following words to her husband in a slow and faltering voice.

तदनन्तर, आंसुओं से भीगे हुए अपने मुख को पोंछते हुए, उन्होंने अत्यंत धीमे और गद्गद स्वर में अपने पति से यह बात कही।
English Commentary
Sita composed herself. The dignity of a great woman lies in presenting her case logically even in extreme pain. Her 'faltering voice' indicates the suppressed emotions in her throat. She is now prepared to answer Shri Rama's allegations, which was essential for the protection of her self-respect.

सीता जी ने स्वयं को संभाला। एक महान स्त्री की गरिमा इसी में है कि वह अत्यंत पीड़ा में भी अपना पक्ष तर्कपूर्ण ढंग से रखती है। उनकी 'गद्गद वाणी' उनके कंठ में रुद्ध आवेग को दर्शाती है। वे अब श्री राम के आरोपों का उत्तर देने के लिए तैयार हैं, जो उनके आत्म-सम्मान की रक्षा के लिए अनिवार्य था।
