अहम् तु खलु सर्वन्वः समर्थयुतुमुद्यतः ।
कुमभकर्णस्य तु स्वप्नान्नेममर्थमचोदयम् ॥६-१२-१०॥
ahaṃ tu khalu sarvān vaḥ samarthayitumudyataḥ । kumbhakarṇasya tu svapnānnimamarthamacodayam ॥6-12-10॥
Translation
I was indeed ready to inform/consult all of you, but due to Kumbhakarna's sleep, I did not bring up this matter.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं आप सबको (विषय) बताने/समझाने के लिए उद्यत था, किंतु कुम्भकर्ण के सोने (स्वप्न) के कारण मैंने यह बात नहीं कही थी।
English Commentary
Reason for Delay. Ravana explains the timing. He was waiting for his brother Kumbhakarna to wake up. This highlights Kumbhakarna's importance; no major war decision could be taken without the heavy hitter present.

कुम्भकर्ण का उल्लेख। रावण बताता है कि उसने अब तक सभा क्यों नहीं बुलाई—क्योंकि उसका मुख्य योद्धा कुम्भकर्ण सो रहा था। अब जब वह जाग गया है (जैसा कि अगले श्लोक में है), रावण चर्चा शुरू कर रहा है।
