Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
त्वयेदम् महादारभम् कार्य मप्रतिचिन्तितम् ।
दिष्ट्या त्वाम् नावधीद्रामो विषमिश्रमिवामृतम् ॥६-१२-३४॥
tvayedāṃ mahadārabdhaṃ kāryamapraticintitam । diṣṭyā tvāṃ nāvadhīdrāmo viṣamiśramivāmiṣam ॥6-12-34॥
Translation
This great deed was started by you without reflection. Luckily, Shri Rama has not killed you yet, just as poison-mixed meat (kills the eater).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुमने यह महान कार्य बिना सोचे-समझे (अप्रतिचिन्तित) आरम्भ किया। भाग्य से (दिष्ट्या) श्री राम ने तुम्हें अभी तक वैसे नहीं मारा जैसे कोई विष मिश्रित मांस (खाने वाले को मार देता है)।
English Commentary
The Poisoned Bait. Kumbhakarna compares the abduction to swallowing poisoned meat ('vishamishram amisham'). It looks like food (gain) but is death. He implies Ravana is lucky to be alive, attributing his survival not to prowess but to sheer luck ('dishtya').

भाग्य का खेल। कुम्भकर्ण कहता है कि रावण अब तक सिर्फ 'किस्मत' से जिंदा है। सीता 'विषमिश्रित मांस' (Poisoned bait) की तरह है—दिखने में आकर्षक, लेकिन खाने वाले (रावण) के लिए जानलेवा। श्री राम ने अभी तक प्रहार नहीं किया, यह रावण का सौभाग्य है।
