Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रभवश्चाप्ययश्च त्वमुपेन्द्रो मधुसूदनः ।
इन्द्रकर्मा महेन्द्रस्त्वं पद्मनाभो रणाम्तकृत् ॥६-१२०-१७॥
prabhavaścāpyayaśca tvamupendro madhusūdanaḥ |
indrakarmā mahendrastvaṃ padmanābho raṇāmtakṛt ॥6-120-17॥
Translation
"You are the Origin and the Dissolution. You are Upendra (Vamana), Madhusudana. You are the performer of Indra's deeds, Mahendra, Padmanabha, and the Ender of battles."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम ही सृष्टि की उत्पत्ति (प्रभव) और प्रलय (अध्यय) हो। तुम उपेन्द्र (वामन) हो, मधुसूदन (मधु दैत्य के संहारक) हो। तुम इंद्र का कार्य करने वाले, महेन्द्र, पद्मनाभ और युद्ध का अंत करने वाले हो।
English Commentary
Brahma lists cosmological roles: Origin and End. He connects Shri Rama to previous feats like slaying Madhu ('Madhusudana'). Calling him 'Ranantakrt' (Ender of War) honors his current feat of ending the terrible war with Ravana, establishing peace.

श्री राम को 'प्रभव' और 'अध्यय' कहकर सृष्टि का कारण माना गया है। 'उपेन्द्र' वामन अवतार का नाम है। 'रणान्तकृत्' (युद्ध का अंत करने वाला) विशेषण रावण वध के संदर्भ में अत्यंत सार्थक है, क्योंकि उन्होंने अभी-अभी महायुद्ध का अंत किया है।
