कथं देवगणश्रेष्ठमात्मानं नावबुध्यसे ।
ऋतधामा वसुः पूर्वं वसूनां त्वं प्रजापतिः ॥६-१२०-७॥
kathaṃ devagaṇaśreṣṭhamātmānaṃ nāvabudhyase |
ṛtadhāmā vasuḥ pūrvaṃ vasūnāṃ tvaṃ prajāpatiḥ ॥6-120-7॥
Translation
"How do you not realize yourself to be the foremost among the host of gods? Among the Vasus, you were the Vasu named Rtadhama in the past, and you are the Prajapati (Lord of creatures)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
आप देवताओं के समूहों में श्रेष्ठ अपने स्वरूप को क्यों नहीं जानते? आप पूर्वकाल में वसुओं में 'ऋतधामा' नामक वसु थे और आप ही प्रजापति हैं।
English Commentary
The gods begin to reveal Shri Rama's cosmic antecedents, identifying him as 'Rtadhama' among the Vasus and as Prajapati. They challenge his apparent ignorance of his own divinity ('katham navabudhyase'). This suggests that the veil of Maya, assumed for the purpose of the incarnation, is now being lifted.

देवता अब श्रीश्री राम को उनकी विस्मृत दिव्यता का स्मरण करा रहे हैं। वे उन्हें 'ऋतधामा' (सत्य के धाम) नामक वसु और 'प्रजापति' बताते हैं। यह कथन दर्शाता है कि अवतार लेते समय भगवान अपनी शक्तियों को माया से ढक लेते हैं, और कार्य पूर्ण होने पर उन्हें पुनः स्मरण कराया जाता है।
