अवश्यं त्रिषु लोकेषु न सीता पापमर्हति ।
दीर्घकालोषिता हीयं रावणान्तःपुरे शुभा ॥६-१२१-१३॥
avaśyaṃ triṣu lokeṣu na sītā pāpamarhati |
dīrghakāloṣitā hīyaṃ rāvaṇāntaḥpure śubhā ॥6-121-13॥
Translation
Certainly, Sita deserves no blame in the three worlds; however, this auspicious lady lived for a long time in the inner apartments of Ravana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
निश्चय ही तीनों लोकों में सीता किसी पाप (दोष) की पात्र नहीं हैं; किन्तु यह शुभ (सुंदरी) रावण के अंतःपुर में दीर्घकाल तक रही थीं।
English Commentary
Shri Rama publicly validates Sita's innocence, aligning himself with the divine verdict. However, he reiterates the circumstantial evidence against her: her long stay in Ravana's palace. This distinction is vital—Shri Rama implies, "I knew she was innocent, but the situation looked guilty." He justifies the ordeal as a necessary measure to bridge the gap between private truth and public appearance.

श्री राम स्पष्ट स्वीकार करते हैं कि वे सीता की निर्दोषता जानते थे। 'न सीता पापमर्हति' (सीता पाप की भागी नहीं है)। लेकिन वे समस्या की जड़ बताते हैं—'दीर्घकालोषिता' (लंबे समय तक रहना)। समाज सत्य को नहीं, परिस्थितियों को देखता है। श्री राम यहाँ यह स्वीकार कर रहे हैं कि उनकी दुविधा सीता के चरित्र को लेकर नहीं, बल्कि सामाजिक धारणा (Perception) को लेकर थी।
