Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रत्ययार्थं तु लोकानां त्रयाणां सत्यसंश्रयः ।
उपेक्षे चापि वैदेहीं प्रविशन्तीं हुताशनम् ॥६-१२१-१६॥
pratyayārthaṃ tu lokānāṃ trayāṇāṃ satyasaṃśrayaḥ |
upekṣe cāpi vaidehīṃ praviśantīṃ hutāśanam ॥6-121-16॥
Translation
But for the sake of establishing trust among the three worlds, taking refuge in truth, I ignored Vaidehi even as she was entering the fire.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तीनों लोकों के विश्वास (प्रत्यय) के लिए, सत्य का आश्रय लेकर, मैंने अग्नि में प्रवेश करती हुई वैदेही की उपेक्षा की (उसे रोका नहीं)।
English Commentary
Shri Rama explains his passive stance (upeksha) during the ordeal. He allowed it for pratyayartham (for the sake of conviction/trust) of the three worlds. Being satyasamshrayah (anchored in truth), he trusted that the cosmic law of Truth would protect the innocent. It was a calculated risk taken by a leader who valued public trust above private safety, believing that supernatural intervention was the only way to clear the air permanently.

श्री राम 'उपेक्षा' (indifference) का कारण बताते हैं। यह निष्ठुरता नहीं, अपितु 'सत्यसंश्रयः' (सत्य के प्रति निष्ठा) थी। उन्हें विश्वास था कि सत्य सीता की रक्षा करेगा। उन्होंने सीता को आग में जाने से इसलिए नहीं रोका ताकि 'लोकों का प्रत्यय' (दुनिया का भरोसा) जीता जा सके। एक राजा को कभी-कभी अपने प्रियजन को जोखिम में डालना पड़ता है ताकि वृहद सत्य स्थापित हो सके।
