प्रलोभ्यमाना विविधं भर्त्स्यमाना च मैथिली ।
नाचिन्तयत तद्रक्षस्त्वद्गतेनान्तरात्मना ॥६-१२१-९॥
pralobhyamānā vividhaṃ bhartsyamānā ca maithilī |
nācintayata tadrakṣastvadgatenāntarātmanā ॥6-121-9॥
Translation
Though tempted in various ways and also threatened, Maithili did not think of that Rakshasa, as her inner soul was absorbed in you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अनेक प्रकार से प्रलोभन दिए जाने पर और डराए-धमकाए जाने पर भी, इस मैथिली ने उस राक्षस (रावण) का चिंतन नहीं किया, क्योंकि इसकी अन्तरात्मा तुममें ही लीन थी।
English Commentary
Ravana used the classic strategies of temptation (pralobhyamana) and intimidation (bhartsyamana). Agni asserts that neither worked. Sita's refusal was absolute because her antaratma (inner soul) was already inhabited by Shri Rama. This verse underlines that true chastity is an unbreakable spiritual state that external pressures cannot alter.

रावण ने सीता को वश में करने के लिए 'साम' (प्रलोभन) और 'दण्ड' (भय) दोनों नीतियों का प्रयोग किया। किन्तु सीता का कवच उनका 'अन्तरात्मा' था जो रामगत (श्री राम में स्थित) था। अग्निदेव पुष्टि करते हैं कि सीता ने रावण के ऐश्वर्य या उसके खड्ग, किसी की भी परवाह नहीं की। यह पूर्ण समर्पण का उदाहरण है।
