Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आरोप्याङ्कं महाबाहुर्वर्रासनगतः प्रभुः ।
बाहुभ्यां संपरिश्वज्य ततो वाक्यं समाददे ॥६-१२२-१२॥
āropyāṅkaṃ mahābāhurvarrāsanagataḥ prabhuḥ |
bāhubhyāṃ samparivaṣvājya tato vākyaṃ samādade ॥6-122-12॥
Translation
The mighty-armed Dasharatha, seated on an excellent throne, drew Him (Shri Rama) into his lap and, embracing Him with both arms, began to speak.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्रेष्ठ आसन पर बैठे हुए महाबाहु दशरथ ने उन्हें (श्री राम को) अपनी गोद में बिठा लिया और अपनी भुजाओं से उन्हें गले लगाकर यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Placing a son in the lap ('Aropya Ankam') is the peak of fatherly affection. Though Shri Rama is now a world-conqueror, He remains a child to his father. The tight embrace ('Samparishvajya') illustrates the emotional intensity of their reunion, symbolizing the end of the long separation that began in Ayodhya.

गोद में बिठाना (आरोप्य अङ्कम्) पिता के वात्सल्य का चरम है। यद्यपि श्री राम अब विश्व-विजेता हैं, किन्तु पिता के लिए वे अभी भी वही बालक हैं। 'बाहुभ्यां सम्परिष्वज्य' (भुजाओं से लपेटकर) का आलिंगन उनके मिलन की भावुकता को दर्शाता है। यह दृश्य उस लम्बे वियोग के अंत का प्रतीक है जो अयोध्या से शुरू हुआ था।
