Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
चतुर्दश समाः सौम्य वने निर्यापितास्त्वया ।
वसता सीतया सार्धं लक्ष्मणेन च धीमता ॥६-१२२-२१॥
caturdaśa samāḥ saumya vane niryāpitāstvayā |
vasatā sītayā sārdhaṃ lakṣmaṇena ca dhīmatā ॥6-122-21॥
Translation
O gentle one! You have successfully spent fourteen years in the forest, dwelling along with Sita and the wise Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौम्य! तुमने सीता और बुद्धिमान लक्ष्मण के साथ रहते हुए वन में चौदह वर्ष सफलतापूर्वक बिता लिए हैं।
English Commentary
The fourteen-year exile is now reaching its completion. The word 'Niryapitah' suggests the period passed with great hardships, yet Shri Rama maintained His composure. Calling Lakshmana 'Dhimata' (wise) praises the service He rendered as Shri Rama's shadow in the forest.

चौदह वर्ष का यह वनवास अब एक पूर्णता की ओर है। 'निरयापिताः' शब्द यह बताता है कि यह काल अत्यंत कष्टों के साथ बीता, किन्तु श्री राम ने अपनी मर्यादा बनाए रखी। लक्ष्मण जी को 'धीमता' (बुद्धिमान) कहना उनकी उस सेवा की प्रशंसा है जो उन्होंने वन में श्री राम की छाया बनकर की।
