Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रामं शुश्रूषता भक्त्या वैदेह्या सह सीतया ।
कृता मम महाप्रीतिः प्राप्तं धर्मफलं च ते ॥६-१२२-२७॥
rāmaṃ śuśrūṣatā bhaktyā vaidehyā saha sītayā |
kṛtā mama mahāprītiḥ prāptaṃ dharmaphalaṃ ca te ॥6-122-27॥
Translation
By serving Shri Rama with devotion alongside Sita (the princess of Videha), You have given me great satisfaction, and You have attained the fruit of Your Dharma.
हिंदी अनुवाद
विदेहनन्दिनी सीता के साथ भक्तिपूर्वक श्री राम की सेवा करके तुमने मुझे अत्यंत प्रसन्न किया है और तुमने अपने धर्म का फल प्राप्त कर लिया है।
English Commentary
Dasharatha praises Lakshmana's 'Dharma of service.' Serving a brother is elevated to the status of 'devotion' ('Bhaktya'). 'Dharmaphalam' refers to the mental peace and glory that comes only from fulfilling one's duty. According to Dasharatha, Lakshmana has attained everything a noble man should strive for.

दशरथ जी यहाँ लक्ष्मण जी के 'सेवा-धर्म' की प्रशंसा कर रहे हैं। एक भाई की सेवा करना भी 'भक्ति' (भक्त्या) माना गया है। 'धर्मफलम्' का अर्थ है वह मानसिक शांति और यश जो केवल कर्तव्य-पालन से मिलता है। दशरथ जी के अनुसार, लक्ष्मण जी ने वह सब पा लिया है जो एक श्रेष्ठ पुरुष को मिलना चाहिए।
