Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एतत्तदुक्तमव्यक्तमक्षरं ब्रह्मसंमितम् ।
देवानां हृदयं सौम्य गुह्यं रामः परन्तपः ॥६-१२२-३१॥
etattaduktamavyaktamakṣaraṃ brahmasammitam |
devānāṃ hṛdayaṃ saumya guhyaṃ rāmaḥ parantapaḥ ॥6-122-31॥
Translation
O gentle one! This is that unmanifest, imperishable, and Brahman-equivalent secret—Shri Rama, the scorcher of foes, is the very heart of the Gods and the supreme mystery.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौम्य! यह वही अव्यक्त, अविनाशी और ब्रह्म के समान रहस्य है— शत्रुओं को तपाने वाले श्री राम साक्षात् देवताओं के हृदय और परम रहस्य हैं।
English Commentary
This is a profoundly philosophical and Upanishadic verse. Shri Rama is described as 'Avyaktam' (unmanifest) and 'Aksharam' (imperishable). He is 'Brahma-sammitam'—equivalent to the Absolute Brahman. Dasharatha imparts this secret to Lakshmana so He may understand the spiritual value of His service. Shri Rama is the Supreme Brahman descended in human form.

यह एक अत्यंत दार्शनिक और उपनिषदीय श्लोक है। यहाँ श्री राम के स्वरूप को 'अव्यक्तम्' (प्रकट न होने वाला) और 'अक्षरम्' (अविनाशी) कहा गया है। वे 'ब्रह्म-सम्मितम्' अर्थात ब्रह्म के तुल्य हैं। दशरथ जी यह रहस्य लक्ष्मण जी को बता रहे हैं ताकि वे अपनी सेवा के आध्यात्मिक मूल्य को समझ सकें। श्री राम साक्षात् परब्रह्म हैं जो मनुष्य रूप में अवतरित हुए हैं।
