Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सोऽपृच्छदभिवाद्यैनं भरद्वाजं तपोधनम् ।
शृणोषि कच्चिद्भगवन् सुभिक्षानामयं पुरे ॥६-१२७-२॥
so'pṛcchadabhivādyainaṃ bharadvājaṃ tapodhanam |
śṛṇoṣi kaccidbhagavan subhikṣānāmayaṃ pure ॥6-127-2॥
Translation
After greeting the ascetic Sage Bharadwaja, He asked: 'O venerable one! Have you heard whether there is prosperity (plenty of food) and wellness in the city (Ayodhya)?'
हिंदी अनुवाद
तपोधान भरद्वाज मुनि का अभिवादन करने के बाद श्री राम ने उनसे पूछा— 'हे भगवन! क्या आपने नगर (अयोध्या) में सुभिक्ष (अन्न की प्रचुरता) और कुशलता का समाचार सुना है?'
English Commentary
Shri Rama's primary concern upon His return is for His subjects and His motherland. Words like 'Subhiksha' (abundance) and 'Anamayam' (health/wellness) are indicators of an ideal state. This highlights the character of a great ruler who prioritizes the welfare of the citizenry over His own personal comforts.

श्री राम की प्रथम चिंता अपनी प्रजा और जन्मभूमि के प्रति है। 'सुभिक्ष' और 'अनामयम्' शब्द एक आदर्श राज्य के सूचक हैं जहाँ जनता को अन्न का अभाव न हो और सब स्वस्थ हों। यह एक महान राजा का लक्षण है जो व्यक्तिगत सुखों से पहले अपनी प्रजा की स्थिति का ज्ञान लेना चाहता है।
