प्रत्युवाच रघुश्रेष्ठं स्मितपूर्वं प्रहृष्टवत् ।
पङ्कदिग्धास्तु भरतो जटिलस्त्वां प्रतीक्षते ॥६-१२७-४॥
pratyuvāca raghuśreṣṭhaṃ smitapūrvaṃ prahṛṣṭavat |
paṅkadigdhāstu bharato jaṭilastvāṃ pratīkṣate ॥6-127-4॥
Translation
Replied to the best of Raghus (Shri Rama) with a joyful smile: 'Bharata, covered in dust and mud, with matted hair, is waiting for You (in Nandigrama).'
हिंदी अनुवाद
रघुकुल श्रेष्ठ श्री राम से अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर और मंद मुस्कान के साथ बोले— 'भरत धूल और कीचड़ से सने हुए हैं, उन्होंने जटाएँ धारण कर रखी हैं और वे (नन्दिग्श्री राम में) तुम्हारी प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं।'
English Commentary
The sage's smile indicates that Bharata has remained perfectly loyal to Shri Rama's ideals. Bharata's physical state—smeared with dust and wearing matted hair—signifies his intense renunciation and devotion. He lives as an ascetic in Nandigrama rather than enjoying the palace, awaiting Shri Rama's return. This news provides Shri Rama with both relief and deep emotional stirring.

भरद्वाज मुनि की मुस्कान इस बात का संकेत है कि भरत ने श्री राम के आदर्शों का पूर्णतः पालन किया है। भरत की स्थिति (पाङ्कदिग्धाः और जटिलः) उनके वैराग्य और भाई के प्रति उनके प्रायश्चित भाव को दर्शाती है। वे महल में नहीं, बल्कि एक तपस्वी की भांति नन्दिग्श्री राम में रह रहे हैं। यह सूचना श्री राम के लिए अत्यंत संतोषप्रद और भावुक थी।
