वृतो हि बाह्वन्तरभोगराशि ।
श्चिन्ताविषः सुस्मिततीक्षणदम्ष्ट्रः ।
पञ्चाङ्गुलीपञ्चशिरोऽतिकायः ।
सीतामहाहिस्तव केन राजन् ॥६-१४-२॥
vṛto hi bāhvantrabhogarāśiś cintāviṣaḥ susmitatīkṣṇadaṃṣṭraḥ । pañcāṅgulī pañcaśiro'tikāyaḥ sītāmahāhistava kena rājan ॥6-14-2॥
Translation
O King! By whom has this great serpent named Sita been placed around you? Her embrace is its coils, anxiety is its poison, her sweet smile its sharp fangs, and her five fingers its five hoods.

हे राजन! सीता रूपी महासर्प (महाहि) जिसके (आलिंगन रूपी) बाहुपाश उसका शरीर (भोग) है, चिंता जिसका विष है, मधुर मुस्कान जिसके तीखे दांत हैं और पाँच अंगुलियां जिसके पांच फन हैं, वह किसके द्वारा आपके गले में डाला गया है?
English Commentary
The Metaphor of the Serpent. Vibhishana compares Sita to a 'Mahahi' (Great Serpent) coiled around Ravana. Her beauty is the lure ('susmita' - fangs), her rejection causes anxiety ('chinta' - poison). He implies that holding onto Sita is like hugging a venomous snake—it guarantees death.

रूपक अलंकार (Metaphor)। विभीषण सीता को 'महासर्प' कहते हैं। यह अपमान नहीं, बल्कि रावण के लिए चेतावनी है। सीता सुंदर दिखती हैं (मुस्कान), लेकिन उनका प्रभाव विषैला (चिंता) और घातक (तीखे दांत) है। विभीषण पूछते हैं कि किस दुश्मन ने तुम्हें यह 'सांप' उपहार में दिया है?
