बृहस्पतेस्तुल्यमतेर्वचस्त ।
न्निशम्य यत्नेन विभीषणस्य ।
ततो महात्मा वचनम् बभाषे ।
तत्रेन्द्रजिन्नैरृतयूथमुख्यः ॥६-१५-१॥
bṛhaspatestulyamatervacastanniśamya yatnena vibhīṣaṇasya । tato mahātmā vacanaṃ babhāṣe tatrendrajinnairṛtayodhamukhyaḥ ॥6-15-1॥
Translation
Having carefully heard those words of Vibhishana, who is equal in intellect to Brihaspati, the high-souled Indrajit, the chief of Rakshasa warriors, spoke these words there.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बृहस्पति के समान बुद्धि वाले विभीषण के उस वचन को ध्यानपूर्वक (यत्न से) सुनकर, तब वहां नैर्ऋत (राक्षस) योद्धाओं में मुख्य और महाबली (महात्मा) इन्द्रजीत ने यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This verse sets up the conflict between wisdom and valor. Vibhishana is equated to Brihaspati, the Guru of the Gods, emphasizing the divine quality of his advice. Indrajit, described as the chief warrior ('yodhamukhyah'), represents martial pride. The term 'Mahatma' for Indrajit refers to his 'great essence' or power as a warrior prince, acknowledging his stature despite his opposing view.
