Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अथेन्द्रकल्पस्य दुरासदस्य ।
महाजसस्तद्वचनम् निशम्य ।
ततो महार्थम् वचनम् बभाषे ।
विभीषणः शस्त्रभृताम् वरिष्ठः ॥६-१५-८॥
athendrakalpasya durāsadasya mahaujasastadvacanaṃ niśamya । tato mahārthaṃ vacanaṃ babhāṣe vibhīṣaṇaḥ śastrabhṛtāṃ variṣṭhaḥ ॥6-15-8॥
Translation
Then, hearing those words of the one equal to Indra, difficult to approach, and of great energy, Vibhishana, the best among weapon-bearers, spoke words of great import.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, इन्द्र के समान, दुर्धर्ष और महाओजस्वी (इन्द्रजीत) के वे वचन सुनकर, शस्त्रधारियों में श्रेष्ठ विभीषण ने महान अर्थ वाला (महार्थ) वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Vibhishana's composure. Despite the insults, Vibhishana remains dignified. The narrator validates Vibhishana as 'shastrabhritam varishthah' (best of warriors), implying his pacifism comes from wisdom, not weakness. He prepares to counter Indrajit's bluster with 'mahartham' (substantive) arguments.

विभीषण का धैर्य। इन्द्रजीत के अपमानजनक शब्दों के बावजूद, विभीषण विचलित नहीं होते। वाल्मीकि जी विभीषण को भी 'शस्त्रभृतां वरिष्ठः' (योद्धाओं में श्रेष्ठ) कहते हैं, यह बताने के लिए कि वे युद्ध कला जानते हैं, पर वे शांति चाहते हैं। वे इन्द्रजीत को करारा जवाब देने के लिए तैयार हैं।
