स तैस्तु सहितो राजा लोकपालानयोधयत् ॥६-१९-१६॥
sa taiḥ parivṛto rājā lokapālānyodhayat । saha devaistu te bhagnā rāvaṇena mahātmanā ॥6-19-16॥
Translation
'Surrounded by them, the King fought the World Guardians. And they, along with the gods, were broken/defeated by the high-souled Ravana.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
'उन्हीं से घिरकर राजा रावण ने लोकपालों से युद्ध किया था। देवताओं सहित वे (लोकपाल) उस महाबली रावण द्वारा हरा दिए गए (भग्न किए गए)।'
English Commentary
Historical context. Vibhishana validates the prowess of this army by citing their victory over the Lokapalas and Devas. It serves as a stern reminder that Shri Rama is facing a force that has already conquered the known universe.

शत्रु का इतिहास। विभीषण पुष्टि करते हैं कि इसी सेना के बल पर रावण ने देवताओं को हराया है। यह कोई साधारण सेना नहीं, बल्कि 'देव-विजेता' सेना है। यह श्री राम को शत्रु को कम न आंकने की चेतावनी है।
