Kinsman's duty. Vibhishana frames the request as a familial obligation. The ocean should help Shri Rama not just out of fear, but out of kinship. This reflects the ancient Indian value of mutual aid among relatives.

पारिवारिक कर्तव्य। विभीषण कहते हैं कि समुद्र श्री राम का 'ज्ञाति' (Kin/Relative) है, इसलिए उसे मदद करनी चाहिए। विभीषण को 'विपश्चित' (विद्वान) कहा गया है क्योंकि वे इतिहास और धर्म जानते हैं।
