न बुध्यसे रघुश्रेष्ठम् यस्ते प्राणान् हरिष्यति ।
ततोऽब्रवीद्वालिसुतोऽप्यङ्गदो हरिसत्तमः ॥६-२०-३०॥
tato'bravīdvālisutastvaṅgado harisattamaḥ । nāyaṃ dūto mahārāja cārikaḥ pratibhāti mā ॥6-20-30॥
Translation
Then Angada, the son of Vali and best of monkeys, spoke: 'O Great King! This does not seem to be a messenger; he appears to be a spy.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब वानरश्रेष्ठ वालिपुत्र अंगद ने कहा—'हे महाराज (सुग्रीव)! यह दूत नहीं है, मुझे तो यह जासूस (चार) प्रतीत होता है।'
English Commentary
Counter-intelligence. Angada intervenes with a crucial observation. He identifies Shuka not as a diplomat ('duta') but as a spy ('charikah'). This changes the rules of engagement.

अंगद का संदेह। अंगद, जो तीक्ष्ण बुद्धि वाले हैं, भांप लेते हैं कि शुक केवल संदेश देने नहीं आया है। वह 'चारिकः' (Spy/Scout) है जो सेना का भेद लेने आया है।
