ऊर्मयः सिन्धु राजस्य सनक्र मकरास् तदा ।
विन्ध्य मन्दर सम्काशाः समुत्पेतुः सहस्रशः ॥६-२१-३१॥
ūrmayaḥ sindhurājasya sanakramakarāstadā । vindhyamandrasaṃkāśāḥ samutpetuḥ sahasraśaḥ ॥6-21-31॥
Translation
Then the waves of the King of Rivers, along with crocodiles, rose up in thousands, resembling the Vindhya and Mandara mountains.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस समय सिंधुराज (सागर) की लहरें, मगरमच्छों सहित, विन्ध्य और मन्दर पर्वत के समान (ऊंची) होकर हजारों की संख्या में ऊपर उछलने लगीं।
English Commentary
Tsunami-like waves. The agitation causes waves as high as mountains ('vindhyamandara-sankashah'). Thousands of them rise up, carrying sea monsters with them, creating a wall of water.
हिंदी टीका
सुनामी। लहरें पहाड़ों ('विन्ध्य-मन्दर') जितनी ऊँची उठ रही हैं। यह सामान्य ज्वार नहीं, बल्कि दैवीय प्रकोप से उत्पन्न प्रलय है।
