Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अन्तर्हितैश्चापि तथान्तरिक्षे ।
ब्रह्मर्षिभिश्चैव सुरर्षिभिश्च ।
शब्दः कृतः कष्टमिति ब्रुवद्भि ।
र्मा मेति चोक्त्वा महता स्वरेण ॥६-२१-३५॥
antarhitaiścaiva tathāntarikṣe brahmarṣibhiścaiva surarṣibhiśca । śabdaḥ kṛtaḥ kaṣṭamiti bruvadbhirmā meti coktvā mahatā svareṇa ॥6-21-35॥
Translation
Hidden in the sky, Brahmarshis and Surarshis made a sound saying 'Alas!' (Kashtam) and saying 'No, no!' (Ma Ma) in a loud voice.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आकाश में अदृश्य रूप से स्थित ब्रह्मर्षियों और सुरर्षियों ने भी 'कष्ट है! (अर्थात् यह अनुचित है)' कहते हुए और 'नहीं, नहीं (मा, मा)' कहते हुए ऊंचे स्वर में शब्द किया (श्री राम को रोका)।
English Commentary
Cosmic Alarm. The intervention becomes universal. Invisible sages and gods ('Brahmarshis', 'Surarshis') cry out from the sky in distress. The consensus of the cosmos is against the destruction of the ocean. This underscores that Shri Rama's power, if unchecked, threatens existence itself.
हिंदी टीका
ब्रह्मांडीय हाहाकार। केवल लक्ष्मण ही नहीं, आकाश से देवता और ऋषि भी श्री राम को रोकने के लिए चिल्ला पड़ते हैं। 'कष्टम्' (हाय! यह क्या अनर्थ है) और 'मा मा' (रुको) की आवाजें गूंजती हैं। श्री राम का क्रोध पूरे ब्रह्मांड के लिए खतरा बन गया है।
