चन्दनागुरुभिश्चैव पुरस्तादभिसेवितम् ॥६-२१-४॥
candanāgurubhiścaiva purastādadhivāsitam । bālasūryapratīkāśaiścandanai rupaśobhitam ॥6-21-4॥
Translation
(That arm) which was formerly perfumed with sandal and Agaru, and adorned with sandal paste resembling the morning sun (red sandal).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(वह भुजा) जो पहले चंदन और अगरु (के लेप) से सुगन्धित (अधिवासित) रहती थी, और बाल-सूर्य (उगते सूरज) के समान लाल रंग के चंदन से सुशोभित होती थी।
English Commentary
Royal cosmetics. The imagery of red sandalwood paste ('balasuryapratikashai') evokes the radiance and grooming of a prince. The loss of these luxuries underscores the severity of his penance and his singular focus on the mission.

राजसी प्रसाधन। श्री राम की भुजाओं पर पहले लाल चंदन ('बालसूर्यप्रतीकाश') का लेप लगता था। यह राजसी ठाठ-बाट का प्रतीक है। आज वहां केवल धूल है। यह श्लोक श्री राम के शारीरिक सौंदर्य और वर्तमान कष्ट के विरोधाभास को रेखांकित करता है।
